Shannon Park, Glenreagh, Clarence Valley Council

Council park with public pool, which has toilets and showers, and public toilet building with toilets only. Park contains tennis courts, a skate bowl and picnic tables located along the Orara River in the village of Glenreagh.

Council and the community received funding to upgrade the public toilets located adjacent to the Orara River. A new amenities block with 2 toilets and showers for the pool and an additional 2 toilets for the park was installed.

Due to the limited buffers to the River and the need for monitoring, an aerated wastewater system that produces secondary treated wastewater was recommended. With the limited buffers, flood impact and the need to be more robust than subsurface irrigation would allow, absorption beds were selected to be installed below the tennis courts and above the old failing absorption bed for the old septic tank.
